Our flagship course
Applied AI Competency
Your team already uses AI. Make sure they use it well, and safely.
Open for enrolment. Next class Thursday, January 21, 2027. Registration closes Thursday, January 7, 2027.
Overview
Most teams picked up AI on their own. Some use it well. Others paste client information into free tools or pass along answers nobody checked. This course teaches your employee to use the AI tools your company already has, under your own accounts and settings, on real work on the job, check what it produces, keep company and client information safe, and know where a person has to make the call. Employees learn on the work devices your company already gives them, in software they already know, at a pace that isn't overwhelming: we fit the tools to the person. The course ends with an observed assessment against the same written standard we use in our AI Competency Assessment.

How it runs
Learn it. Apply it.
- Weeks 1 to 4Learn: four Thursday mornings
One live online class a week, 9:00 a.m. to noon Mountain, for four weeks. Your employee learns alongside employees from other Alberta companies.
- Between classesApply: on the job or in the office
After each class, your employee applies that step at work, on the task your company chose, with their manager's support. A Cornerstone facilitator supervises online.
- Week 4Finish: certificate
Your employee finishes the applied work on the job and is certified.
Who it's for
Who to enrol.
Enrol the employees who use AI tools at work, or should: office and admin staff, coordinators, estimators, bookkeepers.
Built for companies in:
- Professional offices
- The office side of trades and oilfield services
- Retail and wholesale
- Any team already using AI tools at work
Your employee will need to be:
- Comfortable with technology. Uses email, video calls, and shared online documents without help.
- Reads and writes well. Reads carefully, understands what they read, and writes clearly in English.
- Organized and trusted. Someone you already rely on, who can ask good questions and follow through.
- Has the time. Four 3-hour classes, plus a few hours a week on the job between classes.
Readiness call. Before we send the invoice, we hold a short readiness call with your employee. The course only pays off if your employee can do the work, so we check first. If it isn't the right fit yet, we'll tell you, and nothing is owed.
What your employee will learn
By the end, your employee will be able to:
- Find where AI genuinely helps in their daily work, and where it would make things worse.
- Get reliable work out of the AI tools your company already provides, on real tasks, and check it before it goes anywhere.
- Keep company and client information out of places it shouldn't go.
- Know which calls a person has to make, and build that checkpoint into the work.
- Pass an observed assessment of applied judgment, scored against a written standard.
Course format
What happens in each class.
- Class 1. Where AI belongs in the daily work, and where it doesn't.
- Class 2. Using AI on real work: asking well, and checking the answer.
- Class 3. Protecting company and client information, and keeping a person in charge of the calls that matter.
- Class 4. The observed assessment: each employee applies AI to a real task from their own work, scored against the Cornerstone standard.
Certificate. Issued to your employee after all four classes and a passed observed assessment.

What's included in every seat.
Live classes
Four live, instructor-led Thursday mornings, one a week.
Supervised online
The applied work happens on the job, with a facilitator checking it online.
Something that works
Your employee finishes with a real result at work, not a binder.
Alumni rate
Employees certified in any Cornerstone course pay half price for the next one.
Your information
Nothing leaves your business.
No client data or company files leave your company. Your employee works in your own in-house documents, software, and systems, on the work device your company already gives them, whether they're in the office or working remotely. The facilitator reviews the work on a live call, where your employee chooses what to show. Nothing is recorded or copied, and no files come to us. We only ask for the enrolment details the invoice and the grant need.
We teach your employee to use what your company already has in house. Everything they build stays in your company's accounts from the first day.
Why it matters
Everyone is using AI. Almost no one was trained to use it for the company.
Your employees are already using AI, each in their own way. That leaves two questions most owners can't answer:
- Is the company actually benefiting? Or is AI saving one person a few minutes while the work itself doesn't get better?
- Is client and company information safe? Or is the way your people use AI putting it somewhere it shouldn't go?
The AI Competency Assessment answers both, employee by employee. This course closes the gaps it finds. We meet your employees where they already work, on the devices and software they already use, and bring them up to a written standard that serves the company.
For your whole team
We can train your team in house.
Want your whole team trained at once? We come to you. We start with the AI Competency Assessment for your team, then deliver the full course on site in longer sessions, so a whole team can finish in about one week instead of four.
- For four or more employees.
- Your employees work in your own in-house tools and accounts, on your premises.
- Each employee who passes the observed assessment is certified.
- Eligible Alberta employers can still apply for the Canada-Alberta Productivity Grant for each employee trained.
- Priced by quote for your team. The assessment is priced separately from the course; the course is the training you can claim under the grant.
Funding is decided by the Government of Alberta. We can't guarantee approval, and we never cover or refund the employer's share.
Information session
Still deciding? Get a short walkthrough.
A short information session for employers and managers: what the course covers, how it runs, and how the grant works. Leave your email and we'll send you the session, either a recording you can watch any time or an invitation to the next live one.

Support
Questions employers ask.
Does this qualify for the Canada-Alberta Productivity Grant?
Eligible Alberta employers can apply before the class starts and are reimbursed after the employee finishes. Funding is decided by the Government of Alberta. We can't guarantee approval, and we never cover or refund the employer's share. How funding works.
Who should we enrol?
An employee who is comfortable with technology, reads and writes well, and has time for the classes and the work in between. We confirm readiness with a short call before we send the invoice. The grant is for training employees, so owners and their immediate family members can't be enrolled under it.
What if our employee misses a class?
Classes are live and attendance is required for the certificate. Tell us before the class and we'll work out a make-up with you.
How do we pay?
Register online. After a short readiness call, we email your invoice, issued by Cornerstone Future Solutions Inc. Pay it in full by the registration deadline. Instalments are fine, as long as the full amount arrives by the deadline. Your seat is confirmed when payment arrives, and then we send the class details and the link to the online classroom.
Do we have to send you our company information?
No. Everything stays in your company's own tools. See Your information.
Do you come to our location?
Public classes run fully online, including the supervision. If you'd like a facilitator on site, you can request an on-site visit as an add-on. It's quoted separately.
Is there a rate for coming back?
Yes. A certified employee pays half price for any other Cornerstone course.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel 31 days or more before the class starts and we refund the fee minus a $100 administration fee. Cancel 15 to 30 days before and we keep 25% of the fee, up to $500, and refund the rest. Cancel 14 days or less before the start and the fee is not refundable. You can send a different employee in their place at no charge any time before the class starts. If we cancel a class, you get a full refund.
